When/what do you perform?
We perform a wide range of shows including serious dramas and comedies,
(both classic and contemporary), and an annual pantomime. There are four
shows a year: pantomime in late January; then 3 other shows late April;
late July and late October.
There are links to information about our Current,
Next and Future
productions from the Home Page, as well as our Production
Archive.
Where do you perform?
We currently perform at St. Anne's Church Hall, in Wandsworth, south-west
London. However, we have also taken 2 recent productions to Wimbledon
Studio Theatre. Full directions including a map and local bus routes etc
are available from the How
To Find Us link on the Home Page.
Where/when do you rehearse?
We normally rehearse on Tuesday evenings 8.15-10.15pm and Sunday afternoons
4pm-8pm at St. Anne's Church Hall. The rehearsal period for each show
is approximately 12 weeks. Further details of rehearsals can be found
here.
How do I join?
There are no auditions to join our group. We encourage newcomers to meet
us at a rehearsal before signing up so they can see our facilities and
get to know us. They can then get involved straight away with whatever
production is in rehearsal; either by standing in for cast members, making
props or costumes, painting/constructing the set or simply by making the
tea! We request that people become members before auditioning for a show,
although we do regularly cast newcomers. Auditions are advertised on the
website a few weeks in advance. A link to current audition
information can be found on the main Home Page.
How much does it cost to join?
Subs are £60 p/a (contribution if unwaged), payable in advance or quarterly by standing order 1 Feb; 1 May; 1 Aug; 1 Nov. You start paying from the next due quarter date after you join (unless you accept a role in a show immediately on joining – in this case, the quarterly amount is payable before your first rehearsal).
I'm more interested in helping backstage/with the technical side
of things, rather than acting
Members can be involved in any aspect of staging a production from directing,
through acting and stage management, to the more technical areas such
as lighting and sound, making costumes and props, and building the set.
There are also the peripheral areas of publicity and Front of House (serving
the drinks!) during show week.
Is it a friendly group?
The group is very friendly and all members are encouraged to take part
as they wish in any area of the group, regardless of experience. This
means that, even if you're not actually acting, you can still be involved
in the production. Apart from the shows, there is a very good social scene,
including quiz nights, the annual dinner, biannual awards ceremony and
regular trips to the local pub after rehearsals. Links to current social
events and our in-house
awards can be found on the main Home Page.
Can I get tickets for the next show?
There is ticket information displayed on the main Home Page, and links
to information about our Current,
Next and Future
productions from the Home Page. There are even links to our Production
Archive and Reviews
on the Home Page too. You can buy tickets through our box office - details
are posted on the Home Page once tickets are available.
I want to join, what do I do next?
Email us and let us know when
you hope to pop in to meet us, or just turn up at the hall during a rehearsal
and make yourself known.
